This recipe comes to us from Runamok community member Alana Wynn. Trifecta Sesame Seed Waffles are a creative way to boost the flavor of your go-to boxed waffle mix, and a new vehicle for enjoying Runamok maple.

Alana shared, “…tahini is a sesame paste that rivals all nut butters and can be used in both savory and sweet recipes. So go buy a container, like, now. These waffles are filled with three different kinds of sesame: tahini, sesame seeds and sesame oil. It makes for quite the toasty experience.”

Runamok Maple - Recipe Tahini Sesame Seed Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of your go-to waffle mix
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp flavorless oil, like grapeseed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp Tahini
  • 1½ tsp toasted Sesame Seeds
  • ¼ tsp Cinnamon
  • ¾ cup water
  • 70g Sourdough discard (or 1/4 cup waffle mix + 1/4 cup water)
  • Any Runamok Maple Syrup

Instructions

  1. Turn waffle iron on! You want it hot before you get started.
  2. Whisk all your ingredients except the maple syrup together until combined (don't over mix).
  3. To get the cute mini waffle look (in picture shown), I used just shy of ¼ cup of mix for each waffle.
  4. Toast until done then remove to a plate.
  5. 5Top with Runamok Maple Syrup and enjoy!
